The Art of Welcome: Floral & Shell Crafting for Adults

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
High Meadows Branch Library

Description

In many cultures across Asia and the Pacific Islands, a handmade necklace is more than just jewelry. It is a symbol of hospitality, honor, and connection. To celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, join us for a creative workshop where we will craft floral garlands and shell-and-charm necklaces. We will explore the traditions of the Polynesian lei and the South Asian mala while creating our own beautiful pieces to take home.

This adult program focuses on the floral and shell arts that have traveled from the Pacific Islands and Asia to become part of the vibrant American landscape. Materials are included, but are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
