Gremlincore

Gremlincore might not sound like the aesthetic you want to have, but it's a bit of an anthesis to cottagecore. Instead of embracing slow living and the beauty in nature, it focuses on those parts of nature that are often deemed ugly. These books will help you celebrate and appreciate those things, too!

  • Taming Your Gremlin

    a Guide to Enjoying Yourself

    Carson, Richard David
While this might not be about taking on a certain aesthetic in itself, it is still applicable because it's about taming our inner thoughts that aren't so nice, which is something that helps influence gremlincore: finding beauty in things…

  • Gathering Moss

a Natural and Cultural History of Mosses

This book invites you to see the beauty and simplicity in moss, which is so gremlincore I can't take it. The personal reflection in the novel adds a nice touch.

the Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times

This might be an odd choice, but this book fits the gremlincore aesthetic to me. Taking time to nurture and take care of yourself and not let yourself slip through the cracks is just like noticing the beauty of things we think of as ugly:…
